- 180 to 200 Thread Count: This is the sweet spot. It offers a lovely soft feel, fantastic durability (it washes and lasts brilliantly), and is extremely breathable, making it perfect for most sleepers all year round. It’s the clever, practical choice for busy family homes.
- 100 to 150 Thread Count: This is generally basic, lightweight bedding. It’s great for spare rooms or summer, but won't have the luxurious feel or longevity of a higher count.
The Truth About Higher Thread Counts (Over 400)
If you see bedding with a 600 or 1,000+ thread count, you might think it’s automatically better, but it's not always worth the extra money! Once you go above about 400 TC, the difference in feel becomes very subtle, and often the bedding is simply heavier or less breathable. Your money is better spent choosing a high-quality material (like pure cotton) in that perfect 180–200 range.
